George Spear
Woodstock, VT
George Spear's well drilling family background goes back to his father, Richard Spear. Richard participated in the development of Ingersoll Rand's first portable water well drilling machine. It was designed and fabricated in Phillipsburg, NJ in the late 50's. George's father traveled around the United States demonstrating and modifying this machine.  His father also spent several years in the well drilling business in the early 70's, but missed the travel and service work so resumed his career with Ingersoll Rand until his retirement in the late 80's.
George started drilling wells for Lloyd Moyer of Ottauquechee Drilling, Co. in West Bridgewater, Vt in 1973.  Mr. Moyer retired in 1985 and George purchased the business, which had already become well established, and it became Ottauquechee Well Drilling, Inc.

Through the years well drilling technology has changed.  George has kept up with the changes in the equipment and drilling methods.  He is a certified well driller thru the National Ground Water Association as well as being licensed in Vermont and he is currently on the Board of Directors of the Vt. Ground Water Association.
